Malene Davis, RN, CHPN, MBA
Malene Davis is President & CEO of Capital Hospice, one of the first and largest nonprofit providers of hospice and palliative care services in the United States, serving more than 4800 patients in 2006 through 6 regional office locations throughout the metropolitan Washington DC area.
Prior to that, Malene was President & CEO of Hospice Care Corporation in Arthurdale, West Virginia (Preston County), a position she held for the past 20 years. Hospice Care Corporation is the largest hospice in West Virginia, serving 12 counties in North Central West Virginia and 4 counties in Western Pennsylvania.
Malene completed nursing school at West Virginia University in Morgantown. She holds a Masters Degree in both Business Administration (MBA) and Nursing (MSN) from West Virginia University.
Malene was recognized for her work in advancing the hospice philosophy in West Virginia and for her work in the community in 2001 she was selected as the West Virginia University School of Nursing 2001 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year. In 2006, she also received the first Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation Project on Death in America Nursing Leadership Award in Palliative Care.
Malene serves as the Chairperson of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization Board of Director (NHPCO) based in Alexandria, Va.
Malene is a frequent state and national presenter on many topics related to hospice as well as rural issues facing health care in the country.
